It’s time to give the Almond Joy Vodka Martini Recipe a try.  It’s the perfect after dinner cocktail in the Summer or the colder Winter months.  

It’s sweet, chocolatey and nutty all at the same time.  It’s the type of drink that makes your taste buds smile.

Everywhere I look these days I see espresso martinis.  They are such a trendy dessert cocktail right now.  

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good espresso martini.  That’s why I make so many here at the Protective Club.

But if you are looking to try something a little different and you like sweet drinks after dinner, this Almond Joy Vodka Martini is something you should make.  

This drink has all the flavors of an Almond Joy candy bar in a martini glass.

Today I’m going to teach you how to make an Almond Joy Martini.  This is an easy cocktail recipe that you’ll be making on a regular basis once you try it.

Ingredients for the Almond Joy Martini Recipe

These are the ingredients you’ll need to make this delicious almond joy cocktail.  You should be able to find everything at your local liquor store.

A decent vodka is all you need.  You don’t need anything too expensive.

Coconut Rum

Malibu Rum is typically everyone’s go to coconut rum.  If you have another brand that you prefer, that’s fine.

Amaretto liqueur will give this cocktail its almond flavor.  It’s made with almond extract and is on the sweeter side.  I like to use DiSaronno Amaretto.

Creme de Cacao

Creme de Cacao is a chocolate flavored liqueur that will give the cocktail the flavor profile of a chocolate covered almond.  


You can use either light cream or half and half.  If you prefer it on the lighter side, go with light cream.  If you like it a little thicker, use the half & half.

The garnishes I like to use for this cocktail are chocolate syrup and shredded coconut.  They add a little flair and flavor to the drink!

How To Make The Almond Joy Martini Recipe

Now comes the fun part.  Let’s make the Almond Joy Martini!  For the exact amounts of each ingredient, check out the recipe card below.

Let’s start with a chilled martini glass.  Put some ice cubes and a little water in the glass and let it sit for a minute.  

Dump the ice and drizzle some chocolate sauce on the inside of the glass for decoration.

Fill your cocktail shaker

Now take a cocktail shaker and add ice.  Put in your vodka, coconut rum, amaretto, creme de cacao and cream.  

Shake Vigorously

Shake it up really well for about 20 seconds.

Open up the shaker and strain the contents of the shaker into the martini glass.

Sprinkle some of the coconut flakes on top of the drink and serve!

Can the Almond Joy Vodka Martini be batched for a crowd?

​Yes!  If you’re having a party you can make a batch of the martini mix in advance.  When it’s time to serve them, have your martini glasses prepared and ready to go.  Just pour the mixture into the glasses and garnish the top with shaved coconut.  It’s an easy way to make cocktails for a crowd.

What are some other garnishes that can be used for the Almond Joy Martini?

​You can decorate the drinks with lots of cool things.  You could use a chocolate covered almond, chocolate covered coconut flakes or chocolate shavings.

Are there any other variations of the Almond Joy Martini?

Yes.  If you search the internet, you find a handful of recipes.  Some call for things like cream of coconut, Godiva chocolate liqueur and hazelnut liqueur.  Play around with the ingredients and see what you like best.  Create your own delicious almond joy cocktail.

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 ounce coconut rum
  • 1 ounce amaretto
  • 1/2 ounce Creme de Cacao
  • ​2 ounces of cream
  • 1/2 ounce chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon shredded coconut


  • Combine vodka, coconut rum, amaretto, creme de cacao and cream in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Shake it up vigorously for about 20 seconds.
  • Prepare a chilled martini glass with a drizzle of chocolate syrup
  • Strain contents of the shaker into the prepared martini glass
  • Garnish with coconut on top of the drink
  • Enjoy!
