White Rum: White rum, also known as light rum or silver rum, is aged in stainless steel barrels.

Dark Rum:  Dark rum is aged in charred oak barrels for a longer period of time compared to white rum.  Sometimes caramel or brown sugar is added to the barrel to enhance its color and flavor.

Spiced Rum:  A spiced rum is made by mixing various types of aged rum together and adding things like vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and allspice.
